Boo is an up and coming dating app that uses personality testing to help you connect with people who will “effortlessly love, appreciate, and understand you for who you naturally are”.
By leveraging established personality tests, Boo not only shows you why you’re drawn to certain types but offers novel features like tailored tips which spell out the secrets to attracting your perfect match.
Best bits
- Offers a short and snappy 5 question version of their personality test as well as a more in-depth and accurate option. Although personality tests like MBTI can up the compatibility of your matches massively, long questionnaires can put off potential new users signing up.
- Gives a brilliant summary of your personality test score that is quick to read and easy to digest.
- A powerful paid feature gives you a quick snapshot of potential matches personality type so you know what to expect. This gives you a rich insight into their typical strengths and weaknesses, what attracts them, tips for flirting with them, how to know when they like you, their pet peeves, likely interests, the ideal first date, their philosophy on love, relationship fears, love language, potential relationship conflicts and even their secret desires.
- It's so important it’s worth saying twice, the app also gives a handy summary of the way each potential match is likely to express and feel love e.g. through gifts, touch, quality time etc. And whilst differences in love language aren’t necessarily bad, a good fit has been proven to make for stronger, richer, happier relationships.
- Rather than matching and holding your breath as you both wonder who’ll make the first move, Boo abandons the basic ‘swipe to like’ concept and gets people to send a message straight away or risk losing the chance to connect.
- Only interested in matching with people whose personality type is proven to naturally click with yours best? Boo’s search filters have got you covered.
- Ever wondered if you’ve got a cute secret admirer following you on social media? Boo gets everyone to create a unique username which you can share like an Instagram handle so that people you can search for specific profiles on the app.
Hypotheses
- By only letting you like a few people a day users will be forced to choose people they have a stronger preference for and are more likely to invest in conversations with matches.
- There will be a sweet spot of people user should be able to like per day to balance getting enough matches with not having an overwhelming number of people to chat to at once.
- New apps that are still gaining traction are likely to need a different mix of free and paid features than popular apps. As a result, copying the paid feature line up of well-established apps may not always be the best strategy for growing a new apps popularity.
